Lyric soprano Melynda Davis continues to gain attention for her wonderful legato line and beautiful color.  In 2021 she made her debut with Seaglass Theater Company in the World Premiere of Whaling Women. She also returned to MassOpera to premiere the role of Flora in their production of La Traviata. In 2022, Melynda will be making her debut with Greater Worcester Opera as the title role in their production of Suor Angelica.

 

She continues to perform locally with Opera on Tap .  In 2019 Melynda was pleased to join the tour of Rocktopia for their Boston performances. Melynda also joined the roster of Opera on Tap Boston and participates in performances in and around the Boston area.  She made her debut with Boston Modern Opera Project in their concert of the Roaring Twenties. She made her debut with MassOpera in their production with orchestra of Dan Shore's Freedom Ride. Melynda ended the 2019 year with a joint recital including selections from Verdi's La Traviata and joined the Board for Opera on Tap Boston.  

 

Melynda performed with Gilded Angel Opera as the First Lady in Die Zauberflöte  and was invited to perform the East Coast premiere of Dark River with the Mount Holyoke Orchestra and Women Art's. Melynda has also performed with The Martha Cardona Theater, singing in their Summer Concert Series. She also made her debut with Manhattan Opera Studio as Second Lady in their production of Die Zauberflöte.

Melynda performed with Opera OggiNY as a Young Artist. Melynda joined New York Lyric Opera Theater for several seasons as the Countess in their production of Le nozze di Figaro and the title role in Suor Angelica. Melynda also performed with The Opera Company of Brooklyn as a Resident Artist. She debuted as Mimi in their production of La bohème and performed the role of Nedda in their production of Pagliacci

 

Melynda has performed with Lowell House Opera as Desdemona in their production of Otello. She also joined Boston Lyric Opera in their productions of Rusalka and Don Giovanni. Melynda performed as an Artist in Residence with New York Lyric Opera Theater and covered the role of Micaëla in their production of Carmen. Ms. Davis also made her debut with Empire Opera in the world premiere of The Great Supper.

 

Melynda also performed with Boston Opera Collaborative to sing the role of First Lady in Die Zauberflöte and the title role in Suor Angelica. She also covered the role of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni for Boston Opera Collaborative production of Don Giovanni. Ms. Davis joined Lowell House Opera as the cover for Liu in their production of Turandot.

Ms. Davis attended Sherrill Milnes's V.O.I.C.Experience Program, Operafest Boston, and The Lake Placid Institute and was a finalist in the Connecticut Opera Guild Competition, placed first in the  Rhode Island NATS Competition, and placed second in Boston's Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition.

 

Melynda Davis has performed with other companies such as Opera Boston, Opera Providence, Longwood Opera, Opera del West, and the Boston Pops. She has been a soloist with the Providence Singers and the Tiverton Chorus. She has been a Voice faculty member at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School as well as Roger Williams University. Melynda is currently on the roster and is a Board member of Opera on Tap.
