Melynda Davis, soprano, graduated from the University
of Massachusetts at Dartmouth with a Bachelor in Vocal Performance and Education.
She completed her Master of Music in Opera Performance at the Longy School
of Music in Cambridge, MA. She has performed the role of Dido from Purcell's
Dido and Aeneas with the Harvard Early Music Society. She participated in
Operafest Boston in 2000 and 2001 as well as the Lake Placid Institute. She
placed Second in Boston's Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition and has performed
with the Boston Pops Orchestra in their Holiday Chorus. She has performed
with Opera Providence as well as Opera Boston. She has been a soloist with
the Providence Singers. She has been a faculty member at the Rhode Island
Philharmonic Music School as well as Roger Williams University. Melynda also
placed First in the 2005 Rhode Island NATS Competition. Melynda has performed
with Opera del West as well as the New England Conservatory Opera Studio.
She attended Sherrill Milnes’ V.O.I.C.Experience! program in the summer
of 2007. Upcoming, she will be performing with Boston Lyric Opera in their
production of La Bohème. In February 2008, she will be covering the
role of Donna Anna in Boston Opera Collaborative’s production of Don
Giovanni. Melynda will be also be covering Liu in Puccini’s Turandot
with Lowell House Opera. Melynda is currently a student of Maria Spacagna.
